Hi Nick,
Well where do I begin...I come from Scotland originally and the biggest difference for me is the weather. Here we have a good six months of sunny weather and as a result outdoor activities are really popular. The winter is mild with many sunny days - I've spent the last three Christmases outside in the sun :-)
In the height of summer it's very hot during the day so most people eat lunch late at around 2pm and their evening meal around 10pm. The diet is a healthy mediterranean style with lots of fresh vegetables and olive oil.
Families are very important and every Sunday it's a common sight to see generations of a family congregating in a favourite restaurant or on the beach. Children are involved in everything and are never left at home. Teenagers are allowed out much later here (than in Scotland), it's not unusual for someone your age to be allowed out until 2am or later and most teenagers have a 'moto' to get around.
I wonder how different that is to your life in the US...

If you'd like to see some more on connected learning, I amcurrently teaching a class of 69 freshmen who all have iPhones or iPod touches. My goal is to use the devices every class day if possible. We're 6 weeks into the experiment and it's been both better and worse than I expected.

My site is going live next week--you can see the 'under construction' version here:

Thanks Gail. As a learner and educator I just wanted somewhere to keep anything of interest to me in one place ("information navigation" as John Seely Brown describes).
